2011 FMI All-State Band Trip to New York CityOn Monday, 5/2/11, 22 instrumental musicians from St. Mary's School participated in the FMI annual trip to New York City to play on the Lincoln Center Plaza. Our musicians joined with others selected from schools within the Archdioceses of Hartford, Norwich and Bridgeport to participate in this concert featuring the All State Symphonic and Concert Bands. After their performance, students went on a back stage tour of Radio City Music Hall, enjoyed some free time exploring the city and had dinner at Planet Hollywood in Times Square.
Participation in the All-State bands is by audition and requires students to attend a series of weekly practices on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. We commend all the students that participated for their dedication and thank their parents for their support. As always, we thank our outstanding FMI music teacher, Mrs. Debbie Morse, for all the time and effort she commits to our instrumental music program and to helping our students prepare first for their auditions and then for their participation in the All-State Bands.
These students will also be performing outside the Old State House in Hartford on May 27th.
