Election of Home & School Association Executive Board officers for 2010-2011 will take place at the April 8th Home & School Association meeting. Please take a moment to learn more about those that have so graciously volunteered to lead our parent organization. Planning for HSA Spring Events is underway and we need your help to make these events successful and fun: April 9th-Aloha Family Dinner Dance in the parish center. Advanced tickets now available from March 5 through April 6! For more information see link below. The Home and School Association is always looking for event volunteers to assist in kitchen prep, setup, decorations - whatever your skills we'll find a job. Please contact Joan: (860) 329-2032 or Peg: (860)651-8973. May 10th-13th Spring Bookfair. This bookfair is BUY ONE GET ONE FREE and is our reward for hosting a successful fall bookfair. It is also the least expensive time to buy classroom and library books if you want to make a donation. Our current "Book Fairies", Kim Nash and Valerie St Jean, are co-chairing this event but they need more helpers that can be there consistently during the day to run the cash register, etc. Please contact them to volunteer. May 28th - Grandparents and Special Persons Day. This fun event includes a breakfast for your child's grandparents or special visitors, entertainment provided by our students as well as classroom visit time, and concludes with May Crowning in the church. Second graders will plan the May Crowning prayer service. After their participation in this prayer service in their First Holy Communion attire, second graders will have a special celebratory luncheon with their families. This event is a combined effort between the Advancement Committee of the SMS School Board and HSA. We need co-chairs at this time, so grab a friend or two and contact Carrie Herron for more information. May 31st -Simsbury Memorial Day Parade. Many students from SMS have marched in the parade with our banner, sometimes with a float. We need a chair for this event to reserve a spot, disseminate information, plan a float if desired, etc. Contact Carrie Herron June 1st - SMS day at the New Britain Rock Cats. Our band will perform the National Anthem and our chorus will sing during the 7th inning stretch. Mrs Gannatti has promised no homework so everyone can come and enjoy the game. Ticket orders will be collected beginning in April. June 2nd - Science Day and the Science Fair. We need co-chairs for this much anticipated day at school to plan several learning stations, arrange volunteers, invite a guest speaker if desired,etc.. Contact Carrie Herron.
