Dear Saint Mary's Families,
We hope you have a fun filled and rejuvenating summer vacation filled with all the things your family loves most.
While you are enjoying the change of pace that summer brings, we would ask that you keep in mind several points related to Home and School.
1. In order to make sure you receive all communications from SMS please make sure you have signed up for all 3 email lists that are offered. (Emergency Closing, Newsletter, General Announcements). Don't miss out on important information!
2. Membership in the Association consists of all parents of students attending St. Mary's School, including the pre-school and kindergarten classes through eighth grade, and the faculty of St. Mary's School. (source: SMS HSA Constitution - available for view, download and print using the link below)
3. The chief purposes of the Association are to promote communication and cooperation between home, school and community, to raise funds for the benefit of the school and to organize activities and events to promote school spirit and interaction among school families. The Association is not formally involved in the educational policy process, but it does provide information for the school board and administration regarding the values, convictions, needs and desires of parents concerning educational matters. 4. The current Home and School By-Laws can be found on this website. Over the last year a committee has been working to update these by-laws after 10 years without any changes. The final draft of proposed changes will be sent to each family in August with discussion planned for our September H.S.A. meeting and a vote in October. Please feel free to contact Kathy Randall Gill or Mary Jo Stafford with questions. This is your opportunity to decide how our organization will be run. Please take advantage of it.
5. The proposed H.S.A. budget for 2009-2010 will be sent home in August as well, with discussion and vote planned for our September meeting. Please contact Carrie Herron with any questions. This is your opportunity to decide how funds raised will be used to benefit our school community. Please take advantage of it.
Lastly, the volunteer page of this website has been updated to reflect the events scheduled for 2009-2010, current co-chairs, and needed volunteers. Many events are held in the evening and we need help from all of our parents. If you find an event that interests you, we will find a way to take advantage of your talents!
We are looking forward to serving you as the Executive Board of Home and School for 2009-2010.
Wishing you every blessing this summer,
Carrie Herron, President Sheryl Sheridan, Co-Vice President Jackie Voelker, Co-Vice President Ed Clark, Treasurer Kristin Potter, Recording Secretary Michelle Blundy, Corresponding Secretary
