 Our Principal, Mrs. Marie Gannatti

In 2007, Mrs. Marie Gannatti, began her new role as principal of St. Mary's School. Mrs. Gannatti is a familiar face at St. Mary's as she taught first grade from Sept. 2002 through Sept. 2006, when she was called unexpectedly by the Archdiocese to take on new responsibilities as the principal at St. Anthony's in Bristol, CT. She is now pleased to be back working in her home town of Simsbury, and is looking forward to new challenges at St. Mary's. Prior to her tenure at St. Mary's, Mrs. Gannatti was a director of two preschools in Avon and Simsbury, and taught elementary school in Farmington, CT and Buffalo, NY. She also was an educational consultant for a publishing company, where she sold products to schools in the Northeast and provided product training to teachers.
Mrs. Gannatti is a native of Brooklyn, NY and received a BA from Brooklyn College and a Masters Degree in Elementary Educational from SUNY at Buffalo. She is also enrolled as a graduate student at Sacred Heart University in the Catholic School Leadership program.
Mrs. Gannatti has been happily married to her husband, John, for 31 years, and has three sons: Christopher, a Colgate graduate, is working in New York City; Timothy, an avid baseball and hockey player, is a senior at Hotchkiss School; and Matthew, who blessed her life for 15 years, is now her angel in Heaven. Because of Matthew's special needs and challenges, Mrs. Gannatti has been a long time advocate and lobbyist for families with special needs children. Her hobbies include reading, exercising, attending educational seminars, cooking and taking walks with her puppies.
