Dear Friends and Supporters of St. Mary School,
Who is a Christian disciple? One who responds to Christ's call, follows Jesus, and shapes his or her life in imitation of Christ's. Who is a Christian steward? One who receives God's gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others, and returns them with increase to the Lord. "Genesis tells us that God placed the first human beings in a garden to practice stewardship there - 'to cultivate and care for it' (Gn. 2:15) The world remains a kind of garden (or workshop, as some would prefer to say) entrusted to the care of men and women for God's glory and the service of humankind. In its simplest yet deepest sense, this is Christian stewardship ..."
Stewardship: A Disciple's Response United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 1993
Throughout the past fifty years, St. Mary's School has been dedicated to faith in education for a lifetime. The curriculum has changed with the times, but the sound of children's learning, laughter, and prayers fill the classrooms and hallways just as they did on that first day. Our school community has come a long way, thanks to our generous benefactors and devoted families who are committed to making the St. Mary's School the best that it can be.
We are grateful for the charitable support of our patrons, whose contributions in 2007-2008 made possible the purchase and installation of new lockers and Smart Board technology for 2 classrooms.
We look forward to a presentation of the results to the greater school community later this fall.
As the Director of Advancement, I am pleased to join Father Metzler, Mrs. Gannatti, and the School Board Development Committee to assist in student retention and recruitment, public relations, and marketing/communications.
Thank you for your continued support. We are blessed by and grateful for the sacrifices our families and friends make for Catholic education. Our shared commitment is our school's greatest strength. St. Mary's School exists because of the time and dedication of our contributors who selflessly provide financial support to our school. We hope you will continue your support for the 2008-2009 school year.
Thank you, and God Bless You!
Jackie Voelker, Director of Advancement
