 Richard Faucher, Art
|

Hi, my name is Rich Faucher. The kids will know me as Mr. Rich. My teaching philosophy is all a matter of perspective. As a teacher, I am responsible for creating a learning environment that will open a child's curiosity. I am there to guide my students to an understanding of the variety of cultures and artistic eras of our human history.
I believe students need to acquire knowledge at their own pace. I want my students to interact with the world around them. It is here in the art class where we will look at media and processes, society and cultural history. For it is in the art class that society and culture develop and grow. I believe that the study of and participation in the visual arts are paths towards self-discovery. In the arts, students will see the world beyond their knowledge. Study of the arts provides a means of knowing a new way of looking at or experiencing something.
Curiosity, imagination, exploration, making connections; these are the tools for crafting a mind. My class is a state of mind - one of wonder and exploration.
I want my students to be:
- Inquisitive regarding cultural differences. - Open to multiple ways of expression. - Concerned in regards to global issues. - Respectful of differing opinions. - Mindful of the glories of God's creation.
Most of all, I want my students to explore the world that they are part of and to recognize the unique gift that they are to the world. I want my students to imagine a place for themselves in an increasingly interactive society. I want my students to use their skills to bring God's love to the world.
To be an effective teacher, I must be inventive, open minded, consistent, fair and receptive to the variety of students who come to my class. I must be all of the things I expect my students to be.
