SECOND GRADE 2010-2011 SUPPLY LIST
September might seem far away, but I thought it would be helpful if you had a list of supply items for the next school year now. You can use the link below to display a printable copy of the supply list that you can take to the store with you.
Pencils (#2 at least three, sharpened with erasers no mechanical pencils please) Hand held pencil sharpener 12 inch ruler (inches AND centimeters) Crayons and/or Markers 1 yellow highlighter Scissors (pointed) Glue sticks (3- they run out quickly) A case to keep pencils, crayons, glue, etc. in (a soft, "zip lock" type fits easier in the desks) 2 notebooks labeled "Language Arts/Math" and "Social Studies/Science" (wide ruled if possible) (3) 2-pocket folders labeled "Home"' "School", and "Writing"(different colors and designs are OK) A box of tissues (cold season approaches quickly) A box of anti-septic wipes $3.75 for a Homework Planner
Please label all items, including sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, coats, gym uniforms, lunchboxes, boots, hats and mittens. (We donated many unclaimed items to the Lost and Found this year)
Please practice the basic addition and subtraction facts to 18 with your child this summer. This will ensure that they are ready for second grade Math and will start the year off on positive academic footing. Encourage reading! - the more your child reads, the better reader he/she becomes.
Please forward your home e-mail address to me as soon as possible. I find communicating by e-mail to be timely and effective. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
We will be having an End-of-Summer "Meet and Greet", August 31. I hope you and your child can come see the classroom and enjoy an ice cream social. You will receive more information in early August.
Have a wonderful, restful summer. We have a busy year in second grade! I look forward to working with your child in the fall.
